Goodbye Nantucket

The goofball close his eyes on purpose!

Ganim was able to borrow a car and take us to the airport. Before that he showed us the cook staff in action. One of the greatest parts of this trip is to see SR intereact with Ganim. Ganim is imbedded in my childhood. So it was neat to see  my "childhood" meet SR, if that makes any sense, and they got along fine. That was really great.

Day of Departure

This was a great time. I miss the ocean already. I learned a lot about myself during this trip. I was able to work through a couple of mazes in my head, and grow creatively and physically. It was a time needed to reflect on many things. I am beginning to see the real value of vacations. Europe has a good thing going.

WATER BREAK!

Going back 6 miles wasn't so bad especially since we found the other water fountain. That was good. The PrincesSR had a little scuffle with her Cannondale. She was a bit tired but she made it.

They are suppose to be the best and latest in the bike world. My tires were a little flat. But it was good. My foot hit the front tire if I needed to do a really sharp turn. I had fun. It was really good exercise. I should get a bike for NY, but I really don't like riding around with cars all around. It really felt good to move fast by my own power. Haven't felt that in a while.

Here I am trying to showcase the bike but my gut is in the way. And I am sucking it in.

High Tide

Back to my home...

This could be a Namor shot except for the flab.

Did I just pee my pants?

I was treading in that cool green blue water for 20 minutes. thanks to the PrincesSR for recording this.

The PrincesSR and the Sea

for some reason most of these look like paparazzi shots...

The PrincesSR and the Sun

I really really like these shots. The sun beats all filters, lol.

WE made it!!

Six miles and we made it in about an hour. We locked up our bikes and then I had a bad stomach so I spent a wonderful time in here...

Time to get barbaric. Goodbye sausage biscuit?

then we headed to the beautiful beach with the beautiful water.
The PrincesSr took beautiful pics of the sky here...

I want to ride my bicycle....

The PrincesSR was so determined to ride bikes before she left. I was a little more skeptical about enjoying it because of my condition and because of going on the road. SR needed to practice a bit, and their was a lot near the Young's. So she practiced and practiced. It was quite hard for her to turn, but she is a very determined person. She doesn't give up. I was impressed. I did better than I thought and it felt so great to be on a bike. Thank god for the PrincesSR's adventerous spirit. She is helping me break out of my timid shell and getting me back to the kind of man I used to be. I rode ahead of her and we had this technique where I would ring the bell and she would ring back the same rhythm so I would know that she was ok. It was difficult to keep turning around so the bell code worked. It was great to feel the breeze against my fast, velocity and blurred periphery. It's been awhile and it is good to be back. SR is still a little rusty but getting better. She wanted to conquer her fear. I believe she did. On the map we saw symbols for 2 water fountains. We must have missed the first one but found the second. It did not work. We were so tired exhausted and thirsty. The "bastards!" But we continued on to Madaket beach!

Find me in the Fog.

The title of this post was on the back of the t-shirts of the wait staff. That has got to be  the coolest slogan! We found out about this place from the girl at Young's Bike Rentals. She recommended this place. We are glad she did. Here I am finishing up my 30 minutes of using my imagination. PrincesSR ordered this huge plate blueberry pancakes topped with luscious strawberries and and strawberry sause but sans maple syrup. I believe syrup was like 2.50 so we splurged since it was vacation. Then I still had that craving of some good ol sausage biscuit.  It came with black beans and mayo. It was delicious! SR's tasted good as well. Now off to rent our bikes!

Morning Ritual

I was able to wake up early and partake in the creative and physical fitness challenge. It's so weird. It feels like a chore to start but vacation when I am in it. Absolutely strange. Well i was tempted to bring Watership Down by Richard Adams, on this trip but finally decided against it. I guess their comes a point when you are tired of reading someone else's fiction and feel the alarming need to create something of your own. So I brought this book along, Alan Moore's Writing for Comics. Strange book and definitely not a how to book. Not anything like I expected, was basic tips and how to start writing. Moore says their pretty much isn't a right way. His explanations were quite humble yet quite opinionated about quality work that pushes boundaries vs rehashing of boring same old plots with used to death struggles. I agreed with pretty much everything. The things that I learned were that there is a difference between the idea of a book vs. the plot. The idea of the book is what the author is essentially trying to say. Like the lesson he learned in life, while the plot is the mask. Pretty much the basics of myth. So a big milestone was I pretty much figured out the idea of my story, which was huge. To be able to explain and have a point that my story is essential about gave me a foundation to work from. My idea still needs a little fine tuning but the gist is there.
So I would clock in lie 30 minutes a day of working those imagination muscles and then would finish off with a workout. I guess I pretty proud of sticking to my routine. Because it definitely was not there a month ago, not perhaps 6 months ago. I hope this becomes a habit because I don't want it to change. I definitely feel the better for it. There is that sense of fulfillment that was there. Always getting closer. So I guess I am enjoying the process. The google doc has been extremely helpful and motivating. I guess there is something to being in a community that challenges you to be better. not forcing but inspiring and encouraging me to get off my butt. I am quite grateful!
It was really great to be in Nantucket and have fun spending my time by the ocean thinking and making.

Sitting on the dock of the bay not wasting time....

I think this picture here is a good sign of where I am at. My gait needs work as well as my posture. Even though I have been working out I still got a major gut. But I am feeling better and I believe my movement and gait has improved. This was a great place to be in the mornings.
